Mineral Mix

The basic range for all productive dairy cows is Mervit STANDARD, a simple mineral mix with wide applications. Mervit GRASS and MAIZE SILAGE are designed to counteract the deficiencies that can come about in rations which are made up of mainly grass or maize silage. Mervit MAIZE SILAGE is also highly suitable for rations with many by-products.

Rations for highly productive cows are often more concentrated because the loss of minerals and trace elements via the milk increases. Additionally, there is extra support for those cows that need to deliver excellent results at the start of the lactation period. For these types of cows we recommend Mervit TOP PRODUCTION, for maximum milk production from healthy cows.

We have developed two mineral mixes which are designed to give extra support in order to prevent health and/or fertility problems. In the Mervit COW HEALTH formula the combination of organic trace elements and Biotin gives a positive effect on the immune system, udder health and hoof health. Our Mervit FERTILITY product has added elements such as Niacin, Choline and Beta-carotene in order to support fertility.

A group of cows that require special attention are dry cows. With Mervit DRY COW and Mervit MPM (Milk Fever Prevention Mix), the farmer has a mineral mix that has low Calcium levels but is rich in Magnesium. Compared to Mervit DRY COW, Mervit MPM contains Anionic Salt that lowers the CAD (Cation Anion Difference) of the rations in order to prevent milk fever (hypocalcaemia) after calving. The balanced composition also contains a high level of Vitamin E and organic Selenium to ensure good health for both the cow and calf.

If cows receive rations with a high level of fast fermentable carbohydrates and sugars, then, in addition to one of our Mervit Mineral mixes, you can supplement it with a rumen buffer. Mervit BUFFER+ contains buffer components such as Sodium Bicarbonate and live yeast which reduce the chance of rumen acidosis.

Mervit® Calf & Heifer

A good mineral and trace element intake for calves is very important for their growth and development. Mervit CALF & HEIFER contains extra Calcium and Phosphorous which results in balanced bone growth. Whenever a limited amount of compound feed is given to calves, the trace elements can reach a low level and because of this, it is important to supplement their ration with minerals, trace elements and vitamins so that the calves eventually turn into highly productive dairy cattle.

Mervit® Mineral Bucket

In the Mervit Minerals range our Mineral Buckets are an important part. Mineral Buckets are appreciated by farmers for their practical advantages in terms of mineral feeding during the grazing season, when a ration has limited or no compound feed, and also in the barn during the winter periods . We have three types of Mineral Buckets, for these specific situations.

Our Mineral Bucket CATTLE PLUS has unique properties with the addition of Phosphorous and Sulphur. Our Mineral Bucket CATLE ZP is low in Phosphorous and Sulphur but has the same trace elements and vitamins as the CATTLE PLUSMineral Bucket. Additionally, CATTLE ZP contains more Magnesium and less Calcium. Mervit® Mineral Bucket DRY COW has, as expected, a low level of Calcium. Also the other macro-element levels are comparable to that of the mineral mix Mervit® DRY COW.

Rations for beef cattle consist, for a large part, of maize and by-products. The levels of trace elements, minerals and vitamins in these types of feeds are often very low, however potential deficiencies in beef cattle rations can be prevented by adding Mervit® BEEF CATTLE to the rations. There is an additional type of Mervit® BEEF CATTLE which contains live yeast for optimal rumen fermentation and feed conversion.
