Highest quality rumen-resistant choline included in MERVIT products

Processing high-quality raw materials is an important issue for Pre-Mervo. In this context, Pre-Mervo has carried out in-vivo research on various qualities of rumen-resistant choline products for durability in rumen. The results show that there are significant differences. However, durability is not the only aspect of importance, intestinal digestibility is also a determining factor in establishing the quantity of choline that  becomes available to the cow. This is why intestinal digestibility was researched in-vivo. The research demonstrated that there are major differences between products in terms of intestinal digestibility as well.

A result of this research, rumen-resistant choline with the highest actual choline availability at the intestinal level for the cow, is included in MERVIT products. This means the highest possible yield from the added rumen-resistant choline.

In general, unprotected choline breaks down very rapidly in the rumen. This is why only protected, rumen-resistant choline can be expected to have a positive effect on ruminants. Rumen-resistant choline consists of choline ‘packaged’ in a fat coating which makes the product resistant to breakdown in the rumen.

The mineral mix MERVIT® FERTILITY contains rumen-resistant choline. Choline is a key vitamin aimed at providing proper liver function. A properly functioning liver is of key importance in the energy supply of cows and consequently for milk production, health and fertility. A reduced liver function can result in clinical and sub-clinical energy-related defects, such as ketosis, which results in various other defects, such as reduced fertility.
